Two Charged In Long Island Underage Drinking Detail

Two clerks working at beverage centers on Long Island are facing charges after selling alcohol to minors during a New York State Police undercover operation.

On Tuesday, Oct. 29, New York State Police investigators in East Meadow and Riverside conducted “Underage Drinker Enforcement Operations” in the Town of Hempstead and Town of Riverhead, during which, two establishments were cited for selling to undercover operatives under the age of 21.

Little Neck resident Cheng Chao, 48, a clerk at Diamond Wine and Liquor on Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow; and Nicholas Ochiogrosso, 79, of Uniondale, the owner of Uniondale Beverage Center on Front Stride were cited for unlawful dealing with a child and prohibited sale of an alcoholic beverage.

All 22 locations that were targeted in Riverhead checked out and were in compliance. An additional 10 locations in Nassau County were also cleared by State Police.
